It‘s a huge pleasure to present for the first time in the catalogue the talented French composer Toàn.
His third official album, Phonolite, is a little gem of eleven tracks and more than one hour of ambient and electroacoustic music.
There is something special in Toàn’s sound and his capacity to create, with a wide range of acoustic and electronic instruments, a unique world of colours and shades. His sonic paintings are visual collages of microsounds perfectly arranged and chiselled in a photography of the early twentieth century.
The name Phonolite comes from the Ancient Greek meaning “sounding stone” due to the metallic sound it produces if an unfractured plate is hit. Minerals and stones are therefore the concept of this outstanding album, a meditative piece of art that closes the trilogy after Histos Lusis and Volta No Vento.
Please be captivated by the frail elegance of Phonolite.

Thanks

Drop Series 2020

In 2019 I started a different sound experience recording single tracks without the purpose to publish them into an album but just to add these songs on my Soundcloud page like when I had the Myspace profile.
I called that tracks “Drops”, extemporaneous inspired by the Japanese art of Sumie and Haiku. In October the kind label Shimmering Moods published “Little Drops” a first collection of Drops mostly recorded in 2019.
But in 2020 I continued this wonderful experience and i decided to publish every year the full collection. Most of them are recorded during my spare time in the weekend: experiments with the analogue imperfections of tapes, loops with acoustic instruments like guitar, sansula, tibetan bowls and of course my dear electric piano are the basic focus of these 2020 drops. The result is a cozy folder in which you can feel all the difficulties in this 2020, but with a little seed of hope for a better 2021.
I hope Krysalisound could be for you a warm sound space where to refuge your souls.
Thank you so much for the special support of this year….

“Tropic of Coldness” is a duo formed by David and Giovanni, in Brussels, Belgium, during the autumn of 2011. David is a guitarist, synth and sample player, already active on the Brussels scene with his electro / experimental project “Drawing Virtual Gardens”. Giovanni plays guitar, voice and samples for the North-East Italian band “Fuji Apple Worship”, involved in a melting pot of drones, field recordings and minimal sound sculptures. Since its beginning in November 2011, Tropic of Coldness focused on drones / ambient / electroacoustics originated from improvised session, with layers of processed guitars and synths, surrounded and filtrated by field recordings in a sort of acoustic archaeology. The sound research permeates every single note and the harmonic pattern is oriented towards both instrumental and compositional exploration, in a combination of ambient and electronic elements. Tropic of Coldness have performed live in Brussels, London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna as well as touring in other cities of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany and their recordings have been issued by respected labels like Organic Industries, Shimmering Moods and Glacial Movements.
